Preschool
Christ Episcopal Preschool offers a first school experience for three and four year old children. The preschool program is dedicated to the development of the whole child. All activities are developmentally appropriate, and children learn through active manipulation and exploration.
Program
The Preschool program emphasizes developmentally appropriate learning activities and problem-solving skills. Learning is viewed as an interactive process. Preschoolers use materials and engage in activities that are meaningful to them. The school day consists of a rich variety of activities, including readiness skills for reading, math, social studies and science, sharing discussions, outdoor play and storytime. The children attend music once a week in the music room with the music teacher.
Children's social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development is nurtured and encouraged so that they develop self-esteem and independence. Children may be grouped by age, in mixed-age groups, and/or by developmental level.
Classes are half-day, 8:30 to 11:45 a.m., with optional early arrival and extended day. Early arrival from 7:30 a.m., lunch bunch until 1:00 p.m., and extended care until 3:00 p.m. or 6:00 p.m., permit flexibility for busy parents. Enrichment classes such as art and cooking are also offered for preschoolers during the school year.
